Banco Central de Timor-Leste was formally constituted on 13 September 2011 under Law No. 5/2011 of 15 June and Article 143 of the Constitution and aims to be a central bank with a staff of qualified professionals who work to continuously improve the quality of our services by maintaining a monetary system with low levels of inflation; ensuring the efficiency and operability of payment systems; promoting a secure and reliable financial system; communicating and providing information; conducting sound economic research and analysis; developing the necessary technical and organizational capabilities.
