The main challenge was to create a shopping experience capable of simplifying a highly personalised product.
Unlike a traditional online store, Emotiles requires users to actively participate in the creation of the product: selecting photographs, uploading them, adjusting their framing, choosing finishes and configuring each tile before completing the order.
Making this process fast and intuitive was essential, particularly on mobile devices, where a large proportion of users already store their photographs.
At the same time, the website needed to communicate the emotional nature of the product, showcase the quality of the materials and transform a sequence of technical decisions into a simple and inspiring visual experience.
We developed a custom e-commerce experience centred around a product configurator that guides users through the complete Emotiles creation process.
The interface allows users to upload photographs directly from their device, adjust each image individually, select available finish options and visually prepare their product before moving on to checkout.
Validation mechanisms were also integrated into the experience, including image quality warnings designed to help prevent potential production issues before the order is placed.
The experience was designed with a mobile-first approach and enhanced with contextual animations, smooth transitions between stages, visual feedback during configuration, button and control microinteractions, hover effects and scroll-based animations.
Motion is used not only as a visual element, but also as a functional tool. It communicates state changes, guides users, highlights important actions and makes the entire customisation process feel more natural.
